Alliance Charter
The Novos Ordo Seclorum Alliance (NOS) is an alliance whose principles are founded on fellowship, free-will and respect in the common cause of opening up realm communication and to be an undeniable force in RvR. Our primary focus is the domination in RvR for Albion on the Gawaine server; however, we also endeavor to organize the PvE aspects of the game as well through organized raids. We understand that an alliance too structured and rigid can and will affect the fun of the game which we all now enjoy; although, some basics rules have to be stated in order to work together so easily. We endeavor to work together in order to enjoy the full range of the gaming aspects that are available to the players of DAOC and our alliance. The following is a basic list of some of the points, which the alliance asks of its members:
The NOS figurehead guild:
The NOS figurehead guild is comprised of three officers of each guild in the NOS alliance (whomever each guild wants to nominate for these three slots is respected). Each officer who holds these positions will create an alt and have him/her invited to the NOS guild. Each member of the NOS guild will have rank 0 and authority to change alliance message of the day, add/remove representatives from their guild in the NOS figurehead, call NOS meetings if needed through coordination with current Alliance Chancellor and be a voice in policy and decision making for their guild. Each guild, although they have 3 members in the NOS guild, will have 1 collective vote. Any decisions, policy, etc will require 2/3rds majority vote from all alliance guilds to change.
Every first Sunday of every month at 8pm EST, all Alliance officers and members of the NOS guild will meet to discuss issues, concerns, etc at the round table in Camelot. If an important issue comes up in the meantime, any guild can call a meeting by contacting the NOS Chancellor who will arrange it by posting an /amotd and notification post on alliance site 24 hours in advance if the Chancellor deems the situation warrants immediate attention. It is strongly encouraged that alliance forums are used instead in order to minimalize the interruption of game play.
NOS Chancellor:
The NOS Chancellor position is held by one officer in the alliance for a one month period then passed to another. Every guild will have a turn to have a representative as Chancellor before it is passed back to a guild that has already had one. In order to facilitate the transfer of the position once the current Chancellors time is up, the current Chancellor can name his/her successor.
NOS - Chancellor Duties:
1. Dissemination of NOS Alliance Charter & Vote information to the GM's/Officer's of every Guild in NOS.
2. Responsible for the running of the NOS monthly meetings and calling a need for a vote, tallying, and ending votes.
3. Maintenance of the official NOS charter.
4. Ability to call for NOS GM's/officers into Council for voting.
5. Starting and Ending the official vote thread once a thread has been posted by any alliance officer that needs addressing. To clarify: an alliance officer can bring an issue to the alliance forums for discussion. The chancellor will start another thread in conjuncture with the post. Rules of the official vote thread started by the chancellor:
· a.) Name of issue and OV for official vote should be put in the header.
· b.) Under the OV thread, each guild will be responsible for 1 vote consisting of either a simple yes or no. Discussion on the issue should go to the original thread and not the OV thread in order to expedite the voting process.
· c.) Once the OV thread is started by the Chancellor, each guild has one week to vote from the time the chancellor creates the OV thread, then the chancellor will close voting. If a guild does not vote, it is considered they have no comment on the issue and the majority will win based on votes on thread.
Any officer can bring an issue to the attention of other officers in the alliance if they feel it is something that needs to be addressed by posting on alliance forums.
Alliance Chat Policy
Alliance agrees that each guild in it is responsible for governing their own in adherence to the following rules regarding /AS. Including who they deem should have access to /AS as long as the /AS policies are adhered too.
Grievances will not be aired on /AS and must be handled by the leadership of each guild as they see fit. If a guildy has a grievance regarding /AS, they are to contact one of their officers who will contact an officer from the other guild to handle through tells or chat groups. In order words, chain of command is enforced. All Guild Officers will be responsible for taking control of their guilds in accordance with the /AS rules below in order to maintain a healthy /AS.
Respect:
It is important to treat all members of the alliance with respect. Differing views should not ostracize a person. People who are upholding the rules of the alliance should not have to take grief for upholding those rules. Everyone is entering under a rule set and should follow those rules. They should also treat the people who are taking it upon themselves to ensure game quality for all people, based upon the rules that all member guilds were part of founding, with respect.
Alliance Chat and Chat Group Usage Policy
1. Alliance Chat is mainly for Official Business
2. RvR information is always desirable (e.g., "Beno is under attack by 30+ Hibs" or "Group of Mids between CS and Tower")
3. Short comments are acceptable but chat groups are encouraged to form as soon as possible. Leaders of each guild should direct their members to form a chat group when appropriate. However, if you are asked by someone to form a chat group, please form a chat group (i.e., do not spam alliance chat with complaints - just form a chat group by saying "Anyone interested in hearing more about this send me a tell")
4. Can be used to start Raids (e.g., "Anyone wanting to take Mid keeps, send me a tell for cg and meet at CS")
5. Can be used to start Hunting Groups (e.g., "Forming a tree group, send me a tell if interested")
6. Can be used to ask any game related question, answers should be sent by personal tells (e.g., "Are there any high level armor crafters on?" or "Anyone know where Dathmul is?")
7. Absolutely no inappropriate language, including those words that are filtered and ones that are not (e.g., "wtf," "sh1t," "gay," "rape," etc.)
8. No negative comments about anyone (e.g., "Albs are so lame because ..." or "_____ is the worst player I have ever met")
9. There should not be random non-game related discussions going on as they will limit the function of quick information distribution that the alliance is meant to focus on.
10. Crafters can announce when they are logged on, but it is important to not spam and to have only a small number of reposts to the alliance announcing crafting availability.
11. Questions about quests, game mechanics and the like should always go to your guild first then to the /advice system. If the answers cannot be found in either of those mediums, then it can be asked to the alliance. But should be followed by send tell. IE. Can anyone help me with my reaver spec? Send tell to NewbReaver if you can help.
12. /AS should not be used for general discussions. Questions or announcements should be followed with a name to get a cg or a tell for more information.
13. Asking the alliance for cg is ok. IE "who has emain /cg?" (Again, check with your guild first)
14. All members of the alliance should be helping to maintain these points as best as possible.
Alliance RvR
1. Every Friday Night 9pm EST
2. Only Levels 35+ are allowed to participate.
3. Meet at Castle Sauvage
4. Leadership of each raid will be determined by Chancellor (so contact them in advance if interested).
5. Each guild will be encouraged to bring at least 2 rams and wood but not required.
6. Guests can be invited to participate by leadership of each guild.
Alliance PvE Raids
All PvE raids can be put into /amotd with 24 hour notice. PvE raids are scheduled by the Chancellor if you are looking for a large turn-out on a raid. RvR alliance night is set for Friday night. No PvE raids are to be scheduled on Alliance RvR night.
Alliance Call to Arms
In the spirit of a free-will alliance, a Call to Arms will be issued under the following circumstances. It is not mandatory that it be adhered too but is strongly encouraged that all participate in the defense of our realm when called on.
1. Threshold is 3 Albion keeps down. (Changed by Meeting)
2. Defense of the Relic Keep.
3. Alliance Claimed Keep Call to Arms is encouraged.
Alliance Support
Level 50 Epic armor quests will be coordinated by Alliance Guilds
Advice and Support is encouraged but not required.
New Member Guild Entrance Policy
2/3rds majority vote will be required by the existing guilds in the alliance in order to invite another guild. Coordination of said vote should be through the Alliance Chancellor.
Standard Alliance Lotto for Alliance Events
This is still in the works. Keep a lookout for updates on this topic.
Alliance Guild Removal
A guild will be nominated for removal by posting their complaints on the forum. This will also serve as the discussion thread for the guild removal. A different guild will have to second that nomination in order for a voting thread to be started by the Chancellor.
The voting thread would take the votes, one from each guild, and the discussion thread would hold the discussions. The guild has one week from the start of the voting thread to cast its vote or it will not be counted. Guild removal requires a 2/3's majority to remove a guild from the alliance.
Note: While we hope this will never happen, there needs to be some kind of system set up so we have a rule set to point people to.
This is for officially voting for the Alliance charter. Each guild is allowed one vote. There will be a ONE week voting period on this thread, since it's been up for so long already. If you wish to see changes or amendments on the charter, please go back and reply to the other thread discussing the charter.
Also remember that while this will serve as the final document to be presented to all guilds and other alliances, it may be possible for changes to be made if the alliance decides to do so in the future (such as rules for a standard alliance lotto).
