The Bravest Armswoman in Albion
A long time ago, in the lands of Albion a child was
born, her mother named her Rionna Calaele, the child
had eyes as green as the emeralds of the aisle and
hair as red as the bonfires of Beltaine.
As the child grew older her family schooled her in the
arts, sciences, and the much needed skill of weaponry.
She was quite skilled and learned quickly as she grew
older.
The day she turned 16 her father told her family that
he must go away on a trip, to the lands of Hibernia,
for some business and that he would return soon.
Rionna knew Hibernia was a dangerous place, with the
terrible Firbolgs and the impish Lurikeens, she prayed
every day that her father would return safely.
One night a knock was heard at the door, Rionna's
mother opened to the door to find a Man-At-Arms
standing on her front stoop, a sad smile on his face
as he asked if it was the home of Kerrigin Calaele,
master of the arts. Rionna's mouth went dry, she knew
what his visit meant, seconds later the Man-At-Arms
broke the news to her mother.
As her mother crumpled to the ground sobbing the Man-At-Arms requited the
tale of Kerrigin's death, a band of Firbolg's had
attacked Lord Calaele's caravan as it neared the edge
of Connla, his life was not spared and they burned his
body while savagely dancing around it. Fire burned in
Rionna's veins, she knew she must seek revenge for her
father's death, that him losing his life wouldn't go
unnoticed. She plotted ways in which would work best
to seek vengance against the dirty Hibernians.
One day while at in the market she came upon a flyer
hanging up, the guards of Camelot were recruiting for
thier army.
So at 18 she left her home in the middle
of the night, leaving her mother a letter saying she
would avenge her father's death while serving a higher
power, the Church of Albion.
When she arrived in Camelot, Rionna wandered around
after recieving her items from her trainer, she
happened the wander into the Church of Albion. As she
knelt in front of the alter to offer a prayer, she
caught the reflection of a young verile paladin in the
blade of her polearm. For a moment she felt she could
not breathe, for he was the most handsome man she'd
ever seen, and he was not of the Highlander clan she
was, but a true-blooded Briton. She stood and turned
to face him, he barely paid her notice. She sighed and
went to walk past him, but a raised stone in the floor
tripped her. As she fell forward the handsome Briton
caught her in his arms, she looked up to him
thankfully as he said "Hello, I'm Strydar", their eyes
locked for a moment before she could reply to him
"Good day to you, I am Rionna". Days and weeks passed since thier meeting, but
whenever they walked past eachother in the streets
they caught eachother's eyes. One night in a pub they
bumped into eachother and started talking and at times
flirting with eachother. The night grew long and they
started walking around Camelot, still talking and
laughing with eachother. Soon dawn came and they came
to rest on the front steps of the Church, Strydar took
her hands in his and looked into her eyes, as they
leaned forward almost in synch and kissed.
After
spending nearly every day together and almost as many
nights, weeks later they were wed, and Rionna took his
name JusticeStryker as her own last name and became a
member of his guild, Knights of the Roundtable.
The Knights of the Roundtable welcomed her with open arms,
and as she trained and grew as a fighter with them,
they became like family to her. There was nothing she
wouldn't do for her fellow guildmates. Over time, the
former guildleader Lazaro stepped down to retire,
leaving Strydar in charge of the guild with his wife
Rionna as his second-in-command.
She still had not forgotten her promise to herself
and her mother, to avenge the death of her father, but
for a time being with Strydar helped her forget the
pains which had always haunted her.
Though the threats of war loomed over the heads of
all those in Albion for a very long time, it didn't
quite hit home until a major threat of Hibernians and
Midgardians coming through the veil seemed more than a
possible threat, and the leaders of Camelot called
Strydar away to a distant war, leaving Rionna to lead
the guild. The guild grew and prospered, Rionna among
several others became masters in thier skill. Yet she
patiently waited for the time when her dear husband
would return to her, safe and unharmed. She still
saught to avenge her father's death, and she took to
grouping with others to travel through the frontier
killing those of the enemy realms and defending the
keeps of Albion.
This tale is far from done, but the future has not
yet been written, only time will tell what the life of
one armswoman holds in store for her.
